What Can You Do to Treat Babies with Food Allergies?

Allergies are our bodies reaction to certain things. This usually happens when we are subjected to something that our bodies cannot comprehend. Food allergies are quite common, especially in babies.
One of the most common allergies in babies happen to be formula milk, especially those that are made with cow’s milk. Babies who are fed such formula milk will most likely experience itchiness and rashes. As a response, they might scratch it to the point that it may bleed.
One way for parents to remedy this would be to use a hypoallergenic formula which can be found in most online baby stores out there.
What are other food allergies and symptoms that you must know? Today, I am going to talk about some of the most common ones that you need to find out.

Food Intolerance

One of the most common conditions that babies experience is a food intolerance. This is characterized by their body’s inability to process foods in their digestive systems.
Symptoms such as bloating, excess gas, diarrhea, vomiting, cramping, and others could mean that they are indeed suffering from this condition.
Around 15% of babies are affected by some level of food intolerance, though this varies greatly. In some cases, babies would have to consume copious amounts of a certain food to induce that response while others may only require a few for the same thing to take effect.
There are also babies that suffer from minor intolerance, meaning that the symptoms may last only a few hours. However, there are also some that would require a few days for them to fully heal.

Cow’s Milk

A lot of babies worldwide may have trouble digesting cow’s milk. In fact, close to 8% of infants all over the world may experience difficulty in this regard.
A lot of parents often confuse this with lactose intolerance, but this isn’t the case. Lactose intolerance is basically a condition where a certain protein is lacking in their system (lactase) and they are unable to digest lactose properly.
Now, if your baby tends to have stomach problems or they make certain movements that indicate that they are not feeling well (especially, after having consumed cow’s milk), then it could mean that their bodies are unable to digest it. You may want to get a hypoallergenic formula instead.

Inability to Digest Solid Foods

When your baby reaches 7 months’ old, they are technically able to eat some solid foods. Once they start consuming them, however, some babies may have difficulty digesting certain types of solids.
One of the most common ones would be gluten, which is a type of protein that is found in rye, barley, and wheat. Babies who have trouble digesting gluten may mean that they suffer from celiac disease.

What to Do in Case of Food Allergies?

As your baby starts to grow, it is best that you slowly introduce him to the different food groups. Notice how they react after eating certain kinds of foods and make a list of the things that they do not like (from a biological perspective, i.e. allergies).
